Below is a quote I came across on my quest to create
"The Perfect Long Coated German Shepherd Dog"
“Do not believe anything merely because you are told it is so, because others believe it, because it comes from Tradition, or because you have imagined it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect. Believe, take for your doctrine, and hold true to that, which, after serious investigation, seems to you to further the welfare of all beings." -Buddha
Me & My German Shepherd Dogs
Are you interested in owning a German Shepherd Dog? This page gives you a chance to get to know me before you consider your next German Shepherd Dog and breeder, a GSD Specialist!
So you ask, What is a GSD Specialist? As defined on Dictionary.com,
A Specialist is as follows
spe·cial·ist [spesh-uh-list] noun
1. a person who devotes himself or herself to one subject or to one particular branch of a subject or pursuit.
The German Shepherd Dog
(Breed Specifics & Standard on the "Breed Standard" Page)
The German Shepherd Dog (German: Deutscher Schäferhund), also known as an Alsatian or just the German Shepherd, is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany. The German Shepherd is a relatively new breed of dog, with its origin dating to 1899. As part of the Herding Group, the German Shepherd is a working dog developed originally for herding and guarding sheep. Because of its strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training it is often employed in police and military roles around the world. German Shepherds currently account for 4.6% of all dogs registered with the American Kennel Club. Due to its loyal and protective nature, the German Shepherd is one of the most registered of breeds. The Long Coated German Shepherd Dog has all the proper traits any other German Shepherd has with the exception the coat is more fully and beautiful!
Over the years I have heard people discuss breeders, seen the looks on their faces, and majority of the time they have nothing positive to say about the breeder they chose to purchase their family companion from. I have made mental notes of peoples reactions and wonder why do people spend the money they do for a below average service with breeders. Anymore, the term breeder, can bring a negative energy to the table when people are discussing animals. I strongly believe that the public needs to expect more in order to have an impact on animal welfare and also breeders need to expect more from their potential buyers in order to make a difference. I expect my owners who purchase from me to be responsible. And in return, I take all of my German Shepherd Dogs overall well being(socially, behaviorally, nutritionally, etc.) very serious. I am an animal lover at heart and have found that the ability, love, and dedication a German Shepherd Dog can give in a stable environment has out numbered humans on a 2:1 ratio! From growing up in a small town of Ellisville, Mississippi to here in the Missouri Ozarks, I have been a proud owner of German Shepherds since I was a toddler and I have a great respect for them.
Throughout my journey I have also had my own fair share of looking in the paper, searching online advertisements, and researching websites looking for the right dog for me. Just as you may be doing on my website. My experience I have had is that I came across challenges that many of us face as a buyer such as: those who had no idea of certain health clearances I had asked about, I could tell they truly didn't care and were trying to breed for an easy dollar(not true if one does it correctly), and others who have been very disrespectful to me as a buyer. NO WONDER BREEDERS HAVE A BAD NAME!
I treat and respect my animals to the fullest and I have made a commitment to their owners as well! That is why I look at myself as a specialist and not just a breeder. I have committed countless hours of education of the breed, genetics, nutrition, and behavior, on top of the countless hours on my cell helping those who have chosen to take this journey with me. Also, I am a current student with Penn Foster earning my associate's degree in Veterinary Technology to further my knowledge of small animals from a physiological point. I am very dedicated to learning, keeping up in dog nutrition, behavior and improving my German Shepherd Dogs and their offspring. Animal Husbandry takes more than just food, water and breeding to successfully meet breed standards and raise quality German Shepherd Dogs. Many people think a German Shepherd is just a German Shepherd. No! There are many different types of German Shepherd Dogs and it's very important to know what you are looking for in a German Shepherd. Do not make the mistake that just any German Shepherd Dog or Breeder will do.
I know my dogs are not for everyone and that is completely OK because I want my puppies to be as happy with you as you are with them. I look to build relationships with people in a positive manner to help in good times and during the difficult times as well. I look to create a positive experience in owning a German Shepherd Dog, one of the best breeds ever developed, and hope you feel the same! Are you ready to make a journey that is full of leadership, dedication, and the best rewards that only a German Shepherd Dog can give?
